Beware Late Frost Damage On Japanese Maple Trees
It's late spring in many places in the Western hemisphere and its time to be careful about night frosts. Trees are opening their buds, leafing out and the new leaves are tender, susceptible to frost damage.
Keep watching the weather forecasts locally and make sure you take action to protect your new Japanese maple tree growth from late season night frosts.

Hi! I'm not sure if our maple is a Japanese maple. It's not a dwarf tree, but it is fairly young (5 years or so?) and only about 20 feet tall. We have lived with it for 3 springs now, and it has been very vigorous and happy until this spring. We haven't changed anything in its environment but Denver had some very late hard frosts. The tree made leaf buds but never got farther than that. Now it has new leaf shoots at the very base. Does this mean it won't come back next year or is there some hope? Is there anything we can do to help it in this bad year?
